--VHS & DVD--Sell Through & Rentals--Studio Market Share--Per-Title Units & Revenue Estimates--

AMR has compiled hardware penetration and programming revenue histories of all entertainment media back to the earliest days of radio and black & white TV. That comprehensive history and our ongoing tracking of current data make our ten-year projections the most trusted in the industry.
When projecting the performance of a new technology, previous roll-outs are analyzed, and unique features of the new technology are considered in light of current consumer behavior, market conditions, and the latest findings from the top consumer researchers in the business. This formula has allowed us to build a reputation for solid, no-hype projections. For example, we predicted in June of 1995 that by year-end 2000, DVD households would number 12.4 million. In February 2001 we published our latest estimates of the video market and showed DVD console households at 12.6 million, just 2% off.
